Hey folks. A friend pointed out recently that I'm getting a very loud keyboard rattle. On closer inspection there seems to be a small tab broken.

The tab itself is on the laptop in the small crack/space where the keyboard and laptop meet. The tabs I'm talking about are located between the keyboards bottom tabs. You might need a good eye to tell what I'm talking about but here is a pic I edited showing the location (I'll try to get real pics this evening)

Tab number 2 on my laptop is broken and causing the loud rattle. I can feel cracked plastic when I run my finger over it. Also, if I press slightly on the laptop around where the break is, the rattle goes away completely.

What's the issue here? Would it be covered? Who would fix it? The laptop is "almost" 3 months old, is there any warranty this might fall under? It's been an issue since I got it but didn't realize the rattle was an issue and uncommon because this is my first laptop.

Sounds like the tab on the keyboard broke. The lower tabs are not on the body of the Acer, they're on the keyboard. If they are broken, they broke off the KB. Is this the original KB or is this a Canadian unit with a replacement KB. If original, you can probably send it in or try a replacement KB. I think I would try sending it to the depot for repair if it bothers you. You'll be without your unit for a couple of weeks.

It's so easy to change, I'd consider ordering a new one on Amazon etc and do it myself to prevent being without my machine for 2+ weeks

It's not the keyboard tabs, they look fine. I only have my cell phone with me and tried a few macro shots, this is the best I could come up with.

As you can see the keyboard tabs are fine but between the two there is a white piece of plastic. The same thing is on the left side but this one on the right is split and sharp. I'm not really sure how else to explain it. When I rub my finger from left to right under the left direction key I can clearly feel this broken plastic.
