This is an odd question, but when lit, say at night, what color is the Aspire's arcade LCD? I'm just curious.

I am trying to decide between the 2002LCi, the 2012WLCi, and the 2003WLMi models. I can get a 2012 for 1100 at MicroCenter, but need to act relatively quickly. Cost is an issue.

Could anyone give some positive feedback about the arcade? Do you actually use it? I feel as though I actually might.

Any advice on this choice would also be greatly appreciated. The posts on these forums have been instrumental in my decision process.

One last comment - the touchpad. I tried it out at a retailer today. The buttons aren't bad at all! The balance point seems to be toward the bottom of the button. Once you hit the button there, it's fine.

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

That is an odd question coz after thinking about it for a minute I still don't know what your'e asking. The LCD's color is whatever image on the screen being displayed.

If an opinion on the screen is what you want then I can answer that. The screens are great, bright and clear. I could not complain about the screen quality. Unfortunately, I find WSXGA so much better than WXGA so I can't settle with an Acer.

Arcade was somewhat useful, you can use it to control your DVD player or Winamp while using your computer. People complain about accidentally hitting the Arcade button while typing though.

Make sure you test out the keyboard on the Acer Aspire 2000. Theyre known, including the one I had, to have the ii problem. Good luck.

To clarify, by arcade lcd I just meant the console screen on the front of the body of the notebook. Right next to the volume buttons. I assume it identifies the type of media playing or something like that, maybe the time. I also assumed that it was backlit, and if that was the case was wondering what color that backlight was.

It occured to me that the screen might appear as many different colors, but I agree that the screen is gorgeous if you're ok with WXGA (which I am). Thanks for the comments on the arcade's usefullness.

Oh, and buying advice on those three models would still be most appreciated from anyone!

I'll post a full review of whichever the final verdict ends up being.

the arcade LCD is aquagreen, kind of like the Indego wristwatches when backlit is on it is only available on the 2000,2020 series not the 2012

    other differences are:
    2000
    ati 9200 dedicated 64mb ddr (i get about 6800+ on 3dmark2001)
    slot loading CD drive
    aluminum lid
B wireless (can be upgraded later to G if you find a card that works, ask around)
some people have the "ii" keyboard problem ( i dont on my 2001lci)

    2012
intel integrated graphics with shared ram
    trayloading CD drive
    plastic lid (according to some)
    G wireless (faster)
    no keyboard problem (yet)
