I have an acer 8930G and I'm about to install Windows 7 x64bit. I need to know what drivers (besides NVIDIA and Realtek) will I need to install (unless w7 installs the for me ;))? The last time I did this was installing Windows XP FROM windows 7, and it was on a desktop. So will I have to do it like I would reformat, or would I just run the installer?

ALSO, is there a way to save any of my files? I DO have a C: and D: so idk if I can keep some stuff in my D: and have it save? If so let me know.

James, Windows 7 does pack a wide variety of drivers into the setup DVD. As far as I recall, the drivers I needed to install were the Nvidia driver (from Nvidia.com), the Realtek driver (from the Drivers & Applications disc you can burn in Acer eRecovery, quite handy), Synaptics Touchpad driver (same), and the JMicron Carbus driver for my SD card slot (same).

Remember, almost all Vista drivers will work happily on 7 - burn that Drivers & Applications disc, and fill in any holes that way.

I need two more pieces of information regarding the installation of Win7 64-bit: are you starting from Vista 32-bit, and are you upgrading to the same edition (Home Premium, Business/Pro, Ultimate) of 7?
    That makes a difference.

If you're installing to the C: partition, the D: partition will remain untouched. Put your stuff there, but back it up to an external source just in case.
