I was wondering if one might catagorize this laptop as being a gamer laptop?
Also i was wondering if anyone knows the exact models of core duo cpu's that are going to produced with the new Laptops.

Looks good
For a while there, looks too good to be true
$2000 USD for a fully loaded 18" laptop??
I was considering waiting around for this to be released later in the month but since I needed a laptop to last me 4+ years, I opted to go a safer route. -
for which laptop?
-
its great...but acer has worst build quality.
-
hmm i know they have a history of crappy build quality, but these new notebooks looks promising.
-
crappy build, and BAD customer service...yes that new one may have the looks, but its still from acer..
-
but you could always buy an extended service plan from the retailer (for instance, these laptops are rumored to be available at Best Buy / Costco...you could always purchase one of their warranties and just immediately swap the unit if it runs into issues...gotta always have backups handy though)
Ultimately, I was intrigued by the new design and certainly the price point. But I would agree that if you need a durable system to last you for a longer period of time, it might be wise to look elsewhere. -
I do not like the design ,look of it ,very similar to all HP DVs but I do like the spec, much better than these HPs at least on paper.
Also, I do notice that the Acer quality is hugely improved regarding its keyboard and case itself.
I went down to a shop and played with Acer 4920G 812 G, I had to admit I was imparessed and the Build of it was much better than older Acers.
Actually, the Acer 14.1 was even better than ASUS F8SN or HP DV3006tx , so I am thinking of getting it.
As for the 6920G, I wish it were a bit smaller or as small as the 4920g.
I am not interested in over-15.4 lappies at all but they felt so solid.
So I hope the company will make the 4920G with the same GPU as used in the 6920G.
I hated Acer but now I think this company will win and I personally feel its LCD panel is of amazing quality. -
The build quality of the newer acer models (4920/5920) is fine. They are build very well. Just look at these forums, there are hardly any serious problems with them. Sure, the older and cheaper models are not build as good as the 4920/5920, but then again, you get what you pay for.

yeah true, where are they selling these right now? i haven't see any at canada's bestbuy or futureshop yet
-
i believe they come out later in the month or early may

the new laptops really do look nice. but i hate this how movement towards HD content screens. Honestly, how many people spend more time watching HD content on their laptops than they do surfing the net or writing a document, tasks that make having an old school screen better (less scrolling).
i've dealt with Acer CS before, and they replaced my HDD within the week. I've had my 5672 since the first month it came out. Its still working perfectly fine, nothing wrong with they keyboard or the chasis. and from what I can tell the new laptops seem to have gotten better.
You can't always use ur opinion based on old models to judge new ones. Quality can go either way. it is possible for companies to make good or bad models. -
Does anyone know which processors will be available with gemstone series?
If i can get a nice 2.6 penyrn with a nice video card, im sold on this baby. -
it comes with T9300 , T8300 , T8100 and NVIDIA 9500GS , I forgot where I saw it but I think saw it in a German site.
-
s1lva16 T9300 is all you need and must have because of its 6MB L2 Cache. Double from the 3MB L2 Cache of the T8300 and bellow.
2.5Ghz T9300 is almost the same with the T9500 2.6Ghz both have 6MB L2 cache. But T9500 is not worth it right now since is very overpriced almost double the price of the T9300.
What do guys think about the new Acer Gemstone Blue
