    Hi all,

thanks to all the great information on the site, I have just upgraded the CPU in my 6930G from a T5800 to a P8700.

I've also bought a 9600M GT 512Mb DDR3 to replace the 9300M GS I have, but as it's not arrived yet, I re-installed the 9300M GS when I changed the CPU.

I removed the thermal pads and used Antec Thermal Grease as I couldn't get any Arctic 5...

I didn't check any temperatures before I replaced anything, but I have just checked the temps now, and the CPU is fine at 30 degrees C, but the GPU is showing 70 C at idle and high 90s when under a small load.

    That seems a high temperature?

Ironically, the laptop doesn't feel hot, so it might be a sensor thing, but I was wondering what temperatures I should be expecting?

When I change the GPU card I'll use some Arctic 5!

maybe its because u need a shim, there might be a little space between the gpu and the cooling

    Good point,

The thermal pads that were there originally were quite thick.

    Thanks.

Also, don't bet on AS5 - there are much better pastes out there (e.g. MX-4 from the other Arctic).
