I have an Aspire 5051AWXMi that I bought last October (1.6 MHz). I need to swap out the hard drive for something bigger. What type of drive do I need to get - IDE, SATA, other? Also is 120Mb a maximum size or could I install a larger one ?

    Thanks

    John

Seeing as it's recent I'd say it's SATA. There is no size limit, IIRC there were 250gb laptop drives due to come out soon.

Just take the cover where the hard drive is located off, if you see pins to the side of the connector its IDE, if you dont its sata.

You cant really judge whats been fitted to the unit by how new it is because there are still a lot of new machines with IDE in them.
