I was burglarized and a friend's laptop was taken. We look at the original box which the unit came with and it says Aspire 4330-2328, P/N AU10Y_.013, Model JAL90

Now for purposes of the police report what of those numbers are shown as the model number? Will a pawn shop report 4330-2328 if it is shown on the unit, or JAL90?

The owner wrote down for me serial # LXAU10Y0138430D35D1601

with all of the alphanumeric confusion are any of those 0's really O's or 1's really I's ?

the shop would log it in as aspire Aspire 4330
and then add the serial number the would get from the bios or bottom of the laptop.

but this is your friends laptop im surprised he does not know what aspire he used to own.
