I am shipping my Acer 5315-2713 to Texas Acer repair. What is the best way to pack a laptop? I never had to do this before.

Acer said I only have a year warranty on this laptop is that normal for a laptop? It seems short to me. Has long as it covers a free LCD repair I am happy.

Luckily, my Acer has not needed to go anywhere for repairs in the 2+ years I have happily owned it.

Best packing is probably the original box and packing that came with the lappie.

And a one year warranty is perfectly normal. Extended warranty costs extra but gives an added 2 years to the original 1 year warranty.

BTW, what is wrong with your screen?

    Cheers,
    Theo

I packed my laptop in original box and packing that came with the lappie. However Acer returned it to me only in original box.
Shorter warranty means smaller price :)

The bottom of the screen shows a white/gray box half way up or lines comes in goes. It happen two weeks ago when Windows locked up and took my hard drive out. I am not sure what. I thought maybe it was just the hard drive but it has been replace.

I can plug in a external monitor and no issues. So I am not sure what the issue I will let Acer look at it.

Some of us take make the effort to save packaging materials etc.

You take the time to send it to Acer. Well packaged and all.

They send it back only in original box?? The lappie is on it's way back to you "supposedly repaired" without the original cushion of the added original internal packaging.....

The thing is loose and flying around in that box.

    Sad.

No, no, no i wrote it wrong. It's obvious they send it back with original internal packing but they didn't send back carton the original box was within. I packed my lappie so as i recived it from postal courier that means the carton with airbags and original box (with internal packing) between.

In my case it costed me nothing. The man from DHL came to me taked the package and it returned to me by UPS. The bill was for ca. 20$ in one way but it was on Acer's account.

You've sent your laptop with upgraded parts? You might get some problems with the warranty for that..

Do you send in the battery, AC adapter? Not sending those may save some shipping cost.

The packaging instruction I got in email says:

We will not be responsible for any options (CDs, manuals, monitor bases, AC Adapters, power cords, etc.) not returned from the repair center. Therefore, do not include any options unless instructed to do so by Technical Support.

    Just my $.02:

After sending laptops out in original packaging and not getting the packaging back (or getting it back mangled) I have started using UPS Pack and Ship service. Well worththe cost, and available at my local Staples.
