We still havent got full 2.1 capabilities from the available codecs on our vista 5920s. When do you reckon we will have the codecs?

this laptop has SPDIF support so there may be an optical out.

my optical which supports 7-1 is great and is found by using a mini tosslink adapter inserted in the headphone jack.
but this doesn't help your problem.

You think the subwoofer isnt working?

    mine works fine!

play some music with bass and put ur hand on it, u can feel it, then put ur ear to it and its working ok

are you implying it will sound better in 2.1 because more power could be sent to it, or because it will work in stereo mode instead of surround?

cuz if u didnt notice using Eaudio proggy u can selelect music, then rock and it shuts surround off.

one thing i noticed when doing this right out of the box was that when it was switched off it went alot louder, i updated every driver from their website and now I don't even notice a difference.

maybe we should rollback to the factory driver, u can even download it from acer, its version 5.00something instead of 6.00something.

i would like to have a stereo option too, but maybe its going to stereo when u selct music instead of game or movie mode in eaudio software.

    what you think?

yeah i just notice when i switch the eaudio setting it doesnt even make the sound change at all regardless what u pick, ill have to try reinstalling this program and the new driver and see if it fixes it, otherwise its a bug in acer's updated eaudio software i would guess.

from what i've read the "sub-woofer-like tube" works ONLY with the drivers from the ACER site... if you have upgraded your drivers with the newer versions from the REALTEK site the woofer won't function

Well I updated mine with acers drivers and the woofer is workin good

my only problem is that eAudio doesnt do a thing when i change the settings.

if i go in the acer hd audio manager i think it switches everthing in there ok, but not as drastically as it did with factory acer driver compared to my updated acer driver from acers site
