Hello -
To start off, this is my first post! Yay! I have lurked around occasionally, very knowledgeable people here.
I am in the market for a new laptop. I have looked on and off for roughly a year now. At first I drooled over the Sony Vaio F11 (old model now), but now I look back- way too much processing power/features/and way over budget!
I came across the Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4820TG-6847 several weeks ago. A friend had bought a 13 inch model (no optical drive) and liked it. I have read awesome reviews on the AS4820TG-6847. (I'll post specs at bottom of post).
A few weeks ago, they were all over the internet available for purchase. (Amazon had it for $730, and I found everything between $730 and $800) Then they started disappearing. So I quickly bought from an Online Retailer. Two weeks later (just a couple days ago), they send an email saying it is unavailable. I scramble to find another retailer. NONE.
Absolutely none. Everyone who lists it is out of stock. Google Shopping doesn't even list it anymore. (3 weeks ago there were 30+ options)
I contacted Acer to find out if they are discontinuing the product - nope. They forwarded me the 'Where To Buy' page, which is no help. They are large IT distributing dealers. I emailed several to find out if I could purchase 1 laptop. Haven't gotten a response yet, probably will on Monday.
TL;DR?
WHERE CAN I FIND ONE?!?!?!
Personal reviews are welcome, as well as sugestions for other laptop brands/models. I am looking in the i5, 14 inch category with 4-5 hours battery, and good graphics card. HDMI would be nice.
Thanks,

The 4820TG is being phased out; that is why it is so hard to find right now. The newer model 4830TG is going to replace the 4820TG.
It's only a matter of time before the newer model starts showing up in retail/online stores. I don't believe there is a specific date when that will happen. -
Oh, thank you.
I wonder why the Acer Rep did not tell me this?
I know you said no specific date...but wheen do you think they will start to show up?
Thanks a ton,

Ahh. Found an article.
Acer Aspire TimelineX series updated with new processor options -- Engadget
*Sigh*
if info is correct, the 4830T will have integrated graphics. -
TG means NVIDIA/ATI with integrated graphics (switchable graphics)
You want the TG for the model name if you are playing games. -
*DUH*
Sorry for the rants and stupid posts. Thats the integrated switchable.
