    Hey guys,

Recently done a clean install of W7 so lost most of my acer applications (god is it hard to find them) and was having trouble finding the Crystal eye programme. Does anyone have any knowledge of where i could find a version that works with my model (6930g, W7 home prem 32) and will record video, the version i installed when i got w7 only let me take pictures?

    Thanks

I installed the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam on my Test Windows 7-64bit build. My cam was Camera_Suyin_5.2.7.1_W7x64W7x86_A. The software Utilities & Application installed OK. The cam worked fine, however I never checked if it could record (since I never use it and always have it disabled).

I obtained my driver & software from the Acer Website. To obtain the Crystal Eye model I just looked at my Vista Factory Driver Application CD and also checked in the Vista Device Manager. Since both listed Suyin I installed the corresponding Windows 7 driver on my Windows 7 test build.

I am not sure if this is the same for all 6930G systems though. It is possible that there might be different cams !!!!!

Did you read the Acer sticky? There is a link to the Acer FTP, find your model and download the drivers (though there is a chance that is could be an older version). I usually check the company that makes it and get drivers directly.

You have to be careful though downloading blindly from the acer website, since there are multiple setups for some laptops. The docs and factory installer has 2 cams for the 6930G:

    1) Bison Camera
    2) Suyin

Note sure what the website says though.

Always check your hardware first. Unless you prefer living on a razors edge (lol) :)

Most CrystalEye programs rest on Suyin installers, though.
