Hi, I own a TM 4501 and want to know how to upgrade my RAM.
I believe its 512 atm and want it upto 1GB or so.

    1. Which type of RAM goes inside?
    2. Does TM4501 initially come with 2x256 or 2x512?
3 What memory should I buy and where from? I was thinking of newegg.com.

    Thanks
    Arjun

My best advice to you is to take one of the modules currently installed in your computer, and get whatever stats that are on that piece of memory and proceed from there. As for type, well, most notebooks, including the TM4501 just uses SODIMM memory.

Honestly, if you have to ask how many modules initially come with your computer, then I take it that you don't know how to check. If that is truely the case, then I strongly suggest that you don't even bother upgrading the memory yourself...

Acer computers use Infineon memory, and I recommend you use that. The most important things to ensure is to have the right speed and to have the right CAS latency. As for the TM4501, getting speed of DDR333(PC2700) with a CAS latency of CL2.5 should be fine.

I'll make it easier for you. I recently added a 512mb sodimm to my laptop. What you need to get is Kingston value ram part # KVR333S0512R

I got it at circuit city in Buffalo when I was there during my work. I paid $140 US and got a $25 rebate to send in that my buddy in the US is doing for me. I would wait till you go to the US to get it otherwise you'll be paying upwards of $200+ Canadian + 15% to get it here.

AFA installing it use the manual to help you there's a section that tells you how to install it. I did mine no problem only took a few minutes just take care handling the electronics.

The second module should be able to be accessed once you remove the first module I don't think you need to remove the keyboard. I put the 512 board on the first spot and left the 2nd spot untouched. I ended up selling my 256mb that I took out on ebay and got some dough for that too.

    Hey arjung
quick suggestion, google any term you dont know, that is how i found the meaning of all these. Also, about the swap, I personally am waiting for 512 to become about 50$ some weekend on one of those specials. btw, i bought a Targus wireless notebook mouse for 10 bucks over thanksgiving!!!!!! (friday specials)
that was a steal and works great. In terms of replacing the ram, tell me how it goes and keep us posted
    have fun!
