    White screen problem with Aspire 4710

    Hi frens,

    I have an Aspire 4710 Laptop,around 10 months old running windows XP professional SP2. Since the last couple of days, there seems to be some kinda problem.

    When I am in the middle of something, the laptop screen just goes white. The CPU still runs coz I can see the lights blinking but since I cant see anything on the screen, i have to shut down my laptop by holding down the Power button. At times, there are multi-colored vertical lines on the screen for a few seconds & then the screen is back to normal on its own.

    Another problem with my laptop: When I select shut Down option from the menu, the screen always shows Windows is shutting down. The CPU lights blinks off & the cursor also gets stuck on the screen but the dispaly wont go off on its own. I have to again hold the Power button & shut it down.

    One more thing: When I plugin my headphones, I cannot hear any sound but without the headphones, the normal laptop sound is good enough. My laptop says it has a Dolby Digital Live. What does that mean & how do I rectify this error?

    Dear Dsincro

    I too have an acer 4710 and have the similar problem. My laptop is 10 months old. Thia problem was there even the beginning but now it has become more irritating. If you found any solution, please let me know.
