With a new laptop in hand, I'm wondering if I should remove some/most of the vendor stickers.
Stickers like:
Camera rotation direction sticker
Windows Vista Premium ready sticker
Acer Travelmate list of contents sticker (on palmrest)
Intel Centrino Duo sticker (on palmrest)
etc...
On my last HP, I took off all stickers but the Designed for Windows XP sticker which seemed "very" attached. Also one of the HP sticker left a faint outline.
Does leaving the stickers help resell value later, or from usage do they eventually peel at the edges forcing a removal.
What do you suggest?

K keep my stickers on unless they get rubbed away or detract from the overall visual apeal of the laptop.
I use goof off and it does wonders for the stickers on my laptops. I take off the big large stickers and leave the microsot / ATI / Centrino Duo stickers.

I leave them on until they either fade away or start peeling off.
Of course, I'm sure there's some purists among us who feel the stickers detract from the intended design of the laptop! -
I always take off the "what your system contains" stickers, left on the Windows XP, ATI and um, some other one (maybe core duo?) until they started to peel, then they came off too (right now only one left is windows since that hasn't started to peel yet).

Well, I don't technically OWN a notebook, its my dad's, but we took off all the big ones and left "Designed for Windows XP" and "Powered by Intel, etc.".

I took off all of my stickers because 1) the big ones that outlined the contents of my lappy were wrong ( I actually had better hardware ... I'm not complaining
) and 2) they were put on crooked; they looked really dumb. However, I did keep them. I just slapped them on a piece of thin cardboard that came with my manuals and tucked them neatly away in the box my lappy came in.
Also, I don't feel that it's important to show everyone your "badges." But hey, to each their own ... maybe if mine weren't crooked I would have left them on! Oh, and the new "Windows Vista Ready" stickers aren't actually stickers at all, they're thin pieces of aluminum that are stuck on really well (I just left my lappy on for a while to get the glue nice and hot, peeled up a corner, and VERY carefully and SLOWLY peeled it off with a pair of pliers; just peel away from your screen incase you slip!
I hope this helps. There are more topics like this in the mod section of the forums though. -
Same, I took off the Laptop content stickers..
Only kept the:
Intel Centrino Duo
Designed for Windows XP Windows Vista Capable
Graphics by ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
(and the orbicam rotation one just incase i forget)
The Acer signal up took lots of effort, but i finally got it off with a warm towel. -
Most of mine were crooked so yes, everything but the Designed for XP/Vista Capable one
-
mine were nice and straight so I left them

I just removed the Intel Centrino, Made for XP, and dlna certified stickers from my new VAIO laptop. I just hate these crappy little stickers that they feel they must stick on my equipment. I don't need to advertise for them and I like my equipment to look clean. Stickers attract dirt around the edges, wear off, look unsightly and putting them under the spot where my palm will rest is just stupid. I can also feel them under my hand and I just don't like that.
Well, enough whining, now the good news. The VAIO has a silver painted surface and I was very concerned that I would pull the paint off with the stickers. I decided to risk it and used a brand new x-acto blade to lift the corner of each sticker. Even though the adhesive was very strong, I slowly peeled each sticker off with no problems. The worst was the metal made for xp sticker that left a little adheasive behind. The adheasive was removed by using the adhesive on the back of the sticker to lift off any remaining goo. Now my laptop looks just like I prefer. Clean and sticker free. No paint came off with the stickers and with great care you will leave no scratches. This may not work for you but I am very happy with my results. Good luck!
BTW, I would be very careful if trying something like Goof-Off. That can be pretty strong stuff that might leave you with discoloration or other damage. I did not use it based on other things I tried it on that did not come out so well.
Who removes the new stickers?
