    Hi all,
New here so would love some help on my old Acer Aspire laptop 1350.

When bought 15 years ago I had a 3 1/2 Floppy Drive fitted from factory, which worked...
Up until I noticed it was not showing up in My Computer, although it was in Device Manager and was enabled with driver.
Now I have not used the Floppy for about 6 years so never noticed it not in My Computer...
But because I wanted to update the BIOS and flash with the new version (on Acer.com) I wanted to create a back-up diskette. That's when I noticed it would not access said disckette and noticed not in MC.

Now I checked the current BIOS and on the INFO screen it stated 'Diskette A' [disabled].
Problem is everything on the INFO screen is greyed out so i can't change a damn thing.

What I can't understand is why it has disabled it on it's own accord with no alteration from myself?
All's I do on this thing is use the System Recovery Disks once a year to clean it out and restore to factory setup like when I got it all those years ago.

Please does anyone know a mod / upgrade or a nother way that I can enable my Floppy?

I've tried all usual suspects from Device Manager like uninstalling and rebooting for it to locate and install again but it still says [disabled].

    thanks

    Dave

Have you tried resetting the bios? Unplug the computer, take main battery out, take CMOS battery out, and press power button for 30 seconds. It may also be possible that your floppy drive has simply died and won't communicated with system anymore.

Or create a usb bootable stick which is faster and safer.
