Why is it so difficult to find any information on the Acer S3-392 (Haswell w/ dGPU)?

The S7-392 has been out for a bit now, and has been a huge hit. However, I'm much more interested in the S3-392, which couples a lower resolution (1920x1080) with a dedicated GPU (735M I believe). I can't seem to find any information on a release date, any pre-release reviews, or anything else that matter. Google results pull up information from Computex Taipei, which was 2 months ago.

Can anybody help and shed some light on this?

I'm also waiting desperately for the S3-392. I read at a few sites that it should be released in Q3 2013, so i hope everyday that there will be new information about availability.

Well if it's supposed to be released in Q3 2013, I don't think they have too much time left right? (I don't know exactly when the Q ends for Acer - different quarter lengths for different industries makes everything all wacky)

Anyway, a review from The Verge for the S7 just came out - Acer Aspire S7 review (2013) | The Verge, and they were really impressed with it. This just makes me want the S3 even more. I was looking at the comments, and some guy posted how he was able to pull out 12 hours of usage for schoolwork by putting settings to low. If I'm able to do that with the S3, that'll be a dream come true. It seems even more likely given that the S3 will have a slightly smaller screen. If Nvidia's Optimus works correctly and doesn't negatively affect battery life, I'll be a very, very satisfied customer.

I just spoke with the german Acer support chat and they told me it will be released in september. So it seems Q4 starts in October.
I will definitely wait for the S3.

Wow alright, now I'm really excited. Thanks for the update! I wonder when review units will be going out then...

I'm also curious as to why Acer has been so tight-lipped about the S3.

Anyone found out any more information about this laptop. I am holding out for this laptop as I think it will be great and will be a lot cheaper and a bit more flexible than the S7 due to the size. Reading above it says end of September and we are very close to October.. I hope it is released soon.

I too am surprised at how little information there is on such a cool notebook. I hope Acer hasn't canceled it. The most recent thing I spotted was a news article from China dated 16Sep. Since it's from China, and not Taiwan where Acer is based, it's possible it's just regurgitation of old news. Certainly the content is nothing new. FWIW, here is the Google translation:

The S7 is the premium model relative to the S3 despite it's dGPU, so the S3 will be cheaper. The S7 is thinner, lighter and has Gorilla glass protecting it's aluminum casing. The S3 has clear plastic protecting its aluminum casing.

Good that we are finally hearing news about this laptop. I should think it will be hitting worldwide just in time for Christmas

It seems there is a listing now - not on general product page. When you click on the 'info' page, it says not found ... might be a while before we hear anything else. I am assuming this is the new version.

    Acer | Aspire S3 Ultrabook

*edit* incorrect. This is referencing an article written for the previous gen S3 machines. I wonder if they will link this site to the new machine when it is released.

Found an old (4 months) video of the s3-392 that I haven't seen yet and thought i'd share it. I have no idea what the guy is saying in the video. Let us know if he mentioned anything about a release date.

Such a great little laptop based on spec. Would be a real shame to have it cancelled, but hopefully it'll make its way out for holiday season.

Hi everyone, this laptop looks great and I'm trying to decide if I should wait for this or get the v7-482. Does anyone know how much $ this is gonna cost when it does release?

I would say finally...but I still don't see it on store shelves yet lol. It was showcased what...June 2013?

No wonder Acer has been floundering and playing hot potato with their CEOs.

Three more months and it'll have been showcased over a year ago with still no actual product on the shelves. It's almost funny lol.

It has been for sale and in stock for over a week in Scandinavia (Norway/sweden/Denmark).

Nice laptop, but the price is a bit too high for my taste, so not going to grab one for myself.

    Hi

Have one here, a swiss model with i5, 500GB HD, 4GB RAM. Had many expensive and high class Notebooks on my table before, such as MPB Retina, Zenbooks, Envys, etc. But this littly guy beats them all, even because of its decent price.

    - Very nice built, robust and quite light
    - Very good Screen
    - Good GPU power
    - Good connectivity
    - Long battery life
    - Good Keyboard

In my eyes a good buy. Just a pitty that the i7 models are not available here...

    Regards
    Twain
