My extensa is giving me serious problems, I don't know what to do with this laptop. First of all my processor is running pretty slow (800mhz), second, the mouse pointer is not reacting where I want it to click on and thirdly, the cd drive seems to be messing up since it's pretty loud.

What's going on with this thing? why all these problems with a new laptop?

What is your processor really? Usual it runs at lower speed in order to save energy and keep temperature down. If you want it running at full speed at the time, you may just change to Power profile to "always on". Then it will generate good amount of heat and run at the speed they claimed always.

Mouse pointer? are you using touchpad? CD-drive is too loud? Could you provide more info about what your model is?

even if the power is set to equal or power save, the processor shouldnt be running at 800mhz. i think u will av sumit wrong with the transistors within the processor chip. or a damaged pin on it.

The power options in Acer machines are not very reliable. Try checking the e-settings and ensure that it is not set to minimum. For the touchpad, try checking that tapping is enabled in the synaptics settings in the control panel. If the mouse does not move at all when using the touchpad then ensure that it is enabled by pressing Fn and F7 at the same time. Shouldnt worry about the cd drive. As long as it reads CDs DVDs etc then it should be ok. Sometimes drives make noise, but if its annoying them get it looked into. Hope this helps
