YOU MUST KNOW FORSURE WHAT YOUR CHIPSET IS... post #1 of this thread has this info collected for you all you have to do is read and follow directions....
to know what your CHIPSET is you need to take the cover off the bottom of the laptop... then look at the SLOT where the RAM is installed... along the bottom of that slot (usually white plastic slot) should be a sticker with a big long # that starts with MB.xxxxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
copy that number down on a pice of paper and then compare it to this list below.... that will tell you which MOTHERBOARD YOU HAVE,, the 3680 came w/ many different motherboard reivsions... but those first 5 or 10 numbers and letters will allow you to figure out what the CHIPSET REALLY IS!!!
STICKER INFO...................................CHIPSET MODEL
MB.TEB06.003... If it starts with that it is a 940GML
MB.AZL06......... If it starts with that it is a 943GML
MB.TDX06......... If it starts with that it is a 945GML
if you really have an i943 or i945 chipset then the answer is a yes... your chipset limits the RAM speed to 533mhz,, but the i943 will support 667mhz FSB cpus and can accept upto a T7600
the answers are in the ASPIRE 3680 CPU UPGRADE THREAD...
it is a HUGE thread,, but don't just take my word for fact... read that whole thread... you'll learn alot and can feel the pride of doing something based on your own knowledge gained from searching and reading...
i've read that thread 4 or 5 times... and i don't even have a socket M laptop
but it taught me alot about how to upgrade -
yes i have read all that already and yes i have the mobo MB.AZL06 which is the 943GML or as you call it the i943
right. I also saw where Krazyphire said T7200 Are Known to Work so i was gust wanting to make sure that it would work for me if i got it. i will try to read the post more but 51 pages of Reply's is allot to go through lol
and thx for replying Bigozone
-
you can use ANY SOCKET M cpu even the expensive T7600 but IMO it's costs are not worth the tiny performance gains
no problem,, glad to see you have been reading the treads... people who help themselves tend to get much more support than those who EXPECT US TO DO ALL THE WORK FOR THEM
feel free to PM me w/ any ?'s and i'll do my best to point you toward an answer!
later,
bigO -
Ok cool thx bigozone
thx very much for your help i think i will go with the t7200
cuz 2GHz will be good and the cost is ok. Thx agen
-
no problem... and wise choice on the CPU... the others are 2 expensive for very little performance in return
-
Ok
i got it http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360078674773 ..... Nice thing is its a New T7200 cpu
not used for a good price he he
. Wish me Luck and i will keep you posted on how it goes
-
good luck... just remember to keep your screws seperated by size and location,, take pics so you know how it came apart and then you should have no trouble putting it all back!
be sure to let us know how it goes -

I'll give you some names.
PCMark05, PCMark Vantage are good. You can check out wPrime as well and this thread too. -
Thx Very much
-
post me those WPRIME RESULTS... both tests... with that CPU the second test should take about 20 minutes!!
i can point you toward DVD burners all day long... i personally like my NEC/SONY/OPTIARC, 6 months- 0 bad burns.... used daily as reader,, burn 3 DVDs a week minimum.... 10 DVDs in 1 day was my most...
i'll pm you a link or 2 -
i got your pm that is a very nice dvdrw drive
and i did run the 32m Wprime test but i cant figerout how to get the test results its not leting me save it
-
You can't really save it. Submit them to HWbot or Alt+PrtScr to take a screenshot of the active window.
+ I have the NEC-ND6650A in my 3680. Runs perfect and got it for $16 shipped.
(Take BigO's advice on ODDs.) -
but they are nice drives!! i have yet to see a bad burn -
-
i can see y you feel riped off 16$ Vs 49 lol
