    Will the proc. from a compaq evo N800c fit my travelmate 2301?

    I have a travelmate 2301 with a 1.5gig celeron in it, will the processor from the compaq evo N800c which is a 2.0g p4m fit this board? the motherboard died in the compaq so im going to scavange the parts from it...it has 2 gigs of ram, a 120g 7200 rpm seagate drive as well. I hope the processor can fit..

    no dice! socket 478. im going to ahve to strip the parts I need i.e. the hardrive and ram, and sell the rest to pay for a 479 processor.

    That's right - the Pentium 4-M and Pentium M use different sockets each.
    That being said, WHY would you want to use a P4-M? They're actually slower than the P-M, despite the higher GHz rating. Not to mention it'll run hotter and use more power.

    If it would fit im sure the P4m would be faster than the celeron in it mahcine now and I have one here now...but i will part out the n800c and and buy a new processor for the acer
