I have a Aspire 5551-2384 and would like to upgrade the wifi card so I can use the 5ghz band from my new dual band router. My local Tigerdirect sells this card, and I'm wondering if this will work in the 5551?

    Thanks

It should work fine although there are some speculation on whether or not Intel cards work fine in AMD notebooks.
Theoretically there's no reason for them not to work.

    OK, thanks downloads.

Is there a particular card that you would recommend that you know works with the Aspire 5551 laptop (5ghz/dual band)?

Your choice is good other than the doubt towards your laptop being an AMD.

If you want to play it safe you could buy a very good Atheros card- those that are sold as Bigfoot Killer to people who do not understand the concept of money are also sold as Atheros Something-or-other to normal users.

For example Atheros HB112AGN aka AR9380 is a great card and also sold as Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1103.
While this particulat one doesn't have Bluetooth there are others that do like Atheros AR5B22 aka Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1202.
