I received my free Acer upgrade disk from 32 Bit Vista HP to 32 Bit Win 7 HP. The disk says: The Disk Contains 32-bit Software Only :(

I understood from reading various forum sites that the upgrade disk contained BOTH 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Win 7, and by electing to do a "custom" clean install I could install the 64-bit version.

How come Acer only includes the 32-bit on the free upgrade disk?

Is there a way to install a "free" version of the 64-bit HP rather than the 32-bit version?

    Thanks for your assistance

I wasn't aware of the upgrade disks containing both version. Especially considering a single image already takes up about 4GBs.

I installed 64 bit, then used the 32 bit upgrade code. and it worked fine.

Could you much more specific about what were the steps that you took to upgrade to the 64-bit version?

    a. where did you get the 64-bit version?

    b. what did you do to remove the Vista version, etc...

    Thanks

The Windows 7 RTM 64bit should work with your OEM upgrade key. You'll have to "acquire" it yourself though.
