I own Acer 6930G laptop and have recently upgraded to Windows 7 (x64). Now I`m having problems with integrated "Tuba" subwoofer. When playing media that has some sort of sound (audio / video files), after some time the subwoofer starts to make nasty sounds as if something was stuck in it. After I restart the program everything goes to normal for like 1-10 minutes.
Tried both versions (5888 and 5901) of Realtek sound drivers from Acer website and still no good. I`m pretty sure that it`s driver problem since I hadn`t such problems when using Windows XP.

The sub is different on my 8730 but nevertheless it has the same problem on W7 with either version of the Realtek drivers.

Too bad, so it seems we`ll just have to wait for the new version of drivers. :/

I have an 8930G , and in the realtek speaker test, I get a test tone from the tuba , but when i play a dvd test disk the channel test, the subwoofer does not have any sound.
Can anybody confirm that the subwoofer/tuba works on dvd/blu-ray in W7 -
It is common I guess? My Tuba didn't produce any sounds when I test it using the software.
However, it did work when playing Music or Videos. -
I have Acer6935G and on Acer page there is no drivers for sound card (ALC889). I took an audio drivers from Acer 6930G and had the same problem. So I uninstalled it and installed the latest drivers from Realtek ver 2.36,I think. No issue with sound at all now. Try it, maybe will work.

That helped, thanks.

Try using Acer's drivers from their website (even if they are outdated and for Vista).
I used them for my 5930G and installed in compatibility mode for Vista SP2 (under my Windows 7 x64).
Got full subwoofer functionality in the process.
