So here is my problem after installing windows 7 ultimate 64bit edition. I cannot see my dvd drive, even when restarting the laptop and going to the bios, the dvd drive that used to be seen as matsh.ita drive cannot be seen. But when I login to windows 7 and go to device manager, there is this unknown device which is obviously my dvd drive, I tried to update driver but cannot find one.

Then I went searching the internet for possible solutions and still failed, also I found out that not only acer laptops with matsh.ita drive suffer this problem as well as other branded laptops where in the matsh.ita dvd drive is installed.

The bottomline is this matsh.ita drive has no drivers for windows 7, so guys can anyone help me? Please don't advice things such as getting a new drive, since this is fully functional only driver problem with windows 7.
(Note: I put periods on the m.a.t.s.h.i.t.a words coz I cannot spell it correctly since the forum won't allow the Sh*t word to be included any word lolz.)

did you try to find drivers for vista?
they should work on windows 7 with no problems...

    EDIT:
I tried some search... And found this:
    1. Try editing registry:
    click start
    in run box type "regedit"
    expand My Computer,
    expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
    Expand SYSTEM
    expand CurrentControlSet.
    Expand Control,
    expand Class.
    Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
    right click UpperFilters, NOT upperfilters.bak
    delete
    repeat for lower filters
    restart computer
    should work
    good luck

    2. And check the link below:

    Hope this will help...

You can try the filters fix . . It is unlikely to . . Filter conflicts has not been an issue since Windows XP although older software installations could still mess Vista up on installation of filters that got between the drive and OS then failed. Tunes, Direct packet writers like DLA, some backup utilities etc. This filters approach went out of fashion and W7 rarely a problem and especially not on a clean install as reported

Your problem is that either the hardware ID of your drive isnt being recognised, or the motherboard is selecting the wrong mode (IDEvs SATA etc) or there just isn't a driver for W7 because they couldn't make it work (potentially resolvable via a firmware update), or because Windows is blocking it as it was known to cause trouble when Windows 7 shipped

    Try these suggestions
Matshita DVD ram Driver not working since Windows 7 installed

As there are lots of similar reports I think a firmware update will be needed to get this drive to work. This will be interesting as flashing an invisible drive is a bit challenging . . Oh Windows !!
