Last night I decided to get a years subscription to McAfee for my 8930G. After turning on my laptop this morning I'm getting an error message regarding my Windows Defender.
The error code is "Error Code 0x800106ba Application failed to initialize"
I've looked this error up on the Windows site and it suggests uninstalling Windows Defender and then re-installing it.
But here comes the problem, in the add/remove program section it doesn't have Windows Defender listed. I've just went into Msconfig and made sure that Windows Defender doesn't run on startup.
Has anyone had this problem before and is Windows Defender really needed??

Might be wrong but if it's Vista then defender is an integral part of it... you can't remove it.
Never used McAffe but FSecure say to turn OFF defender and use only their security package.
