Hi, is it possible to do a Windows repair, or a system recovery, from the cds provided with the Acer (Aspire1692) laptop? I don't want to do a re-install or complete recovery with the ghost images provided by Acer. My problem is that my laptop is crashed and I it can't make it passed the Windows splash screen, and safe mode doesn't work. I tried UBCD4Win, but I don't think I can do a system restore or a Windows repair from there.

    Thanks,

    Guillaume

Unfortunately, Acer does not provide fresh copies of Windows. I believe that doing so helps keeps their operating costs down. You are really stuck with the image of Windows + a CD-key. You could try using your OEM Windows CD, but I don't know if it has all the bells and whistles of a normal Windows diskette.
