    Hi
I have an Acer 5626 loaded with XP Pro.
Every time I restart/reboot the laptop, the wireless button is automatically enabled (light goes on). However, when I disable wireless by pressing the wireless button, and then reboot, then the wireless button is enabled again! Surely it is supposed to stay switched off after reboot? That is what I want. I can then manually switch on wireless by pressing the button.

I did enable the setting in Acer eNet Management software to allow eNet to load with every reboot, but that is not supposed to physically enable the wireless button, it is only supposed to load the eNet software. I want to manage my wireless by pressing the wireless button on and off. It's a hassle to press the wireless button (to off) everytime after the laptop has rebooted. Especially when you might have a LAN cable connected because a DHCP server for example, might assign an IP address via LAN and via WLAN..?

What am I supposed to do to ensure that when I press the wireless button to disable it, that it stays disabled after I reboot the laptop?

    Thanks

    Look in the BIOS.

My Samsung Q35 has three options in the BIOS for the wireless setting on boot-up: Off, on, or remember last setting.

I suspect your Acer computer may have the same.

Look at ePower management. Under your default power profiles for either (or both) AC or Battery operation, Wireless LAN is probably turned on. Turn it off for those profiles there or create new profiles..

Thsi is NOT a BIOS issue

You can set the option in Launch Manager if its installed. But some versions of Launch Manager don't have that option.

If you set it to Wireless LAN Always Off then you would have to manually press the Wireless button on your laptop whenever your system restarts so you can use it.

    Thanks for the feedback.
It's not in the BIOS and not in Launch Manager.

    Thanks Yellow.
However, I downgraded from Vista to XP Pro (Acer downgraded it for me, I had to send the laptop in for an overheating problem..) and for some odd reason, ePower management is nowhere to be found under eManagement Empowering Technology main menu. The rest are there (eNet, Performance etc.). ePower management does not appear to be installed.

Can I install ePower Management separately and can I download this somewhere online?

Yes you can. Go here and select your notebook model and you will find all the acer programs and drivers you need for XP or Vista :)

    Thanks Evolution.
I installed ePower Management for XP (epowermg_2.00.2016) but when I loaded the software... there were no power schemes! Almost everything on the first tab is greyed out. I then clicked on the Default tab which allows you to load the default settings incl. the power schemes, but 'load' is greyed out too. There's no option to manually create all the power schemes yourself as well.

Surely all the default power schemes are supposed to be installed as well?
