    Good morning~

I have an Acer Aspire laptop that periodically disconnects from the wireless connection then quickly reconnects, often to another wireless connection detected in the area, even though my home's wireless connection shows the strongest signal. Is there some way to secure that it will stay connected to the wireless connection I have established? It is a secure connection--thanks for any ideas!:rolleyes

Fixing this will depend on what software is managing your wireless connection. If you post what operating system you have and also your Aspire model number someone can likely tell you exactly what to do to fix this. It's going to involve telling the connection software to not automatically connect to any other wifi besides your home.

You can remove the unwanted ones from the available list or uncheck connect to any available network option under wireless settings.

Yep, just like tmtang64 said....here's detailed steps if you aren't sure where this is....

    1. Right click on your wireless connection at bottom right of screen.

    2. Select Network and Sharing Center.

    3. Click on Manage Network Connections on the menu on left side.

You should now see the wireless networks that Windows wants to connect to.

    4. Right click on the first network that you don't want to connect to and choose Properties.

    5. Uncheck 'Connected automatically when this network is in range.'

    6. Do this for all other networks that you don't want to connect automatically to.

    7. Right click on the network you DO want to always connect to, and make sure 'Connect automatically...' is check and 'Connect to a more preferred network if available' is unchecked. Also make sure 'Connect even if network is not broadcasting' is checked if your wireless network doesn't broadcast the SSID.

That should be it....no more changing networks whenever Windows feels like it. :)
