I've trawled the forums google and been on mirc a few times to try and get my head around this![]()
I've got a acer 6930g. I've put 4gig of ram into it, it's seen better days key missing or two, but i've decided to try and do it up and get the most out of it, i'm not completely new when it comes to pc and laptops i've changed the thermal compound on it and replaced the power cable from the motherboard so i've took it apart before. I'd like to upgrade the: cpu gpu upgrade to 8gig of ram and possibly stick a SSD in if this is possible. Was wondering what parts people would suggest, if i'll need a new fan? new bios? etc etc I really appreciate any help you guys can give me! one more thing I play wow my cpu and gpu both get quite high into the 70s managed to lower it with a cooling pad... but worried it might cause problems if i stick more power intense parts in. I'll paste some information from Sandra about my current specs

Maybe this could help you in your choice for a video card upgrade. http://http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/396320-acer-mxm-models-cards.html
Good luck! -
So I could get a 8600m GT naice! i'll have a look @ the prices! also do you know what speed ram I should get... i'm wanting to put 8gig in I know I wont really need it but I guess I just like overkill, thanks for the response
was beginning to think this would get lost

what about this card - would it work in my laptop with it being ddr3 ? Aliexpress.com : Buy 100% New brand notebook laptop HD4650 MXM 3(A) DDR3 1GB VG.M960H.004 graphics card VGA card for Acer from Reliable HD4650 graphics card suppliers on Shenzhen Senxin Weiye Electronics Co., Ltd.

same one even cheaper ?! New ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 1GB DDR3 MXM 3(A) Video VGA card VG.M960H.004 | eBay -
anyone? :<
-
Neither would work- you need an MXM II card, not MXM-A.
-
right mxm 2 card what speed ram can i get ?
-
Only the one you have DDR2 667MHz.
-
I'm really apprehensive here :/ and i'm sorry to keep posting asking for help but I don't want to buy something that wont work :< i'm looking on ebay :/ and i'm seeing mxm-li and mxm-II what exactly is mxm-li ? and i'm guessing that isn't compatible ? - I've found this Nvidia MXM II Graphics Card VGA GeForce 9600M GT 9600MGT DDR3 512MB For Acer NEW | eBay /

or would this 1024mb ddr2 card be faster?
Acer 6935G nVIDIA Geforce 9600M GT MXM II DDR2 1024MB VGA Card VG.9PG06.009 | eBay
as far as i'm aware this would be fine in my laptop? is it better than the radeon? once again sorry for all the questions :/ -
There's no such thing as MXM-li. It must be a typo.
Both cards you lined do will work fine however it's not the 1GB one that is faster. Due to the fact that DDR3 is much faster than DDR2 it's the 512 DDR3 card that will give you better performance.
As for comparison to 4650- HD4650 DDR3 would be faster than 9600M GT regardless of RAM used on the latter, however since it's rather hard to get HD 4650 DDR3 these days it's probably safe to go for 9600M GT DDR3. -
Have you decided which card you plan to get? By the way, which processors are you choosing between?
Would love some help / advice on upgrading my 6930g
