    Hi Acer users,

I am considering getting this from CC:
Acer Aspire 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC (5630-6288)

    * Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 ( Is this the Santa Rosa? )

    For $699 after $100 rebate

It will be used primarly for work, programming with VS 2005 and Java, watching movies via the DVD player.

Alot of members here dont care for Acer but wanted the opinions of those who actually own one.

    Thanks for the input...

I think that will be great for your needs. But no, T5500 is not santa rosa.
Just make sure you like it.

If Santa Rosa is important for you, look for the T7xxx processors, but beware that the T7100 has 2mb cache not 4mb.

I was also considering this laptop for use as a second computer. Little to no gaming with mostly use for office and internet with occasional media. Would this fit my needs? And does Acer preload a bunch of crap on their laptops because i know this particular laptop does not come with a recovery disc. You have to make your own which is really stupid!
