When replacing hard drive I made a blunder. Replaced hard drive from Acer 5315 with vista os with intel into an acer 5520 with winxp pro os with Amd. Now the green lite comes on and stays on with no light on the monitor. Tried different memory and also removed hard drive and tried starting and only get green lite to come on and nothing else. Reinstalled original hard drive and same result. Could someone tell me what kind of damdge I caused. Thanks.

its not an OS issue sounds like your shorted something, did you install it with the battery still in?

add original hard drive and only 1 stick of the ram. hold power button in for like13 seconds without batter then tr starting it up with power

I had battery out whenever I removed or installed memory or hard drive. Alsor tried crisis disk and Acer update. Sometimes computer smells hot.
Could I have fried the CPU? Heat sink feels quite hot when I try En and Escape when loading crisis disk or Acer bios.
