    hi everyone....
    i just have one question...

is it worth paying 90 euros more to get an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 with 128 mb of VRAM (Acer Aspire 1692Wlmi) instead of the X600 with 64Mb of VRAM (Aspire 1691Wlmi)...

oh and also, the processor of the Aspire 1692 Wlmi is only marginally faster (1.76 Ghz) as opposed to 1.6 Ghz in the 1691

i will be playing some of the latest games...not necessarily on the highest resolution though...

    any thoughts on this??
    thanks in advance..

If you're doing any gaming, I'd definitely get it. That's a phenominal upgrade that isn't terribly expensive.

It's definately worth it for 80euro if you are a gamer.

I'd recommend getting the X700. For a small difference in cost, you're gonna get more benifit from the faster GPU. This will allow you to play newer games in the future. I always recommend getting more (spec wise) than you currently need, this way your notebook will be just right in a couple/few years.

hey thanks brian, wiz33 and venombite.....i just ordered for the aspire 1692 with the X700......i can hardly wait!

    two more questions though..

    1. i have heard that the X700 has better power saving features. is the difference in battery standby for both the models significant or are they almost the same?

    2. this laptop will come with windows XP home edition. I have heard that windows XP Professional edition is better than the home edition....why is this?

    thanks in advance guys..

Hope it is still not too late for this reminder.

I found in China market (I am in HK so I know) that 1692WLMi with X700 64M but the X700 is the cheapest 64bit version! After net friend tested, the 3DMark05 result is just margainal higher than my 1692 with X600 64M (128bit). So, ask before act!! [B)]
