In the process of researching core 2 duo upgrade for my Acer Aspire 5315.
    Came across this:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896256

Has anybody who put a core 2 duo in their 5315 used this update ?

If so did it seem to help anything ?

    Thanks for any info.

yes,, but it is included in SP3....

not sure if the REGISTRY KEY MODIFICATION is made by installing SP3
since i did the reg mod and the update back when i had SP2

but anyway... i noticed no difference at all
and i did run various CPU benchmarks before and after

    but that was months ago

my advice would be to just install SP3.... then make the registry mod if you feel comfortable with doing it!!

it didn't slow me down any,, but i noticed no improvement either

The registry change is for those who prefer battery time over performance.
I sit in a recliner plugged in so no need for it.
I like power for coding and 3D rendering using Blender 3D.
I did change my Prefetch setting in registry so my computer boots faster.
