Hey guys/gals sorry if this is posted elsewhere. My Acer 5630 will not recognize and Bluetooth devices I have a PalmOne Treo 650, and a Logitech MX 5000 Mouse and Keyboard none of which are recognized. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.
(BTW I have tried reinstalling the driver and software)
Many Thanks,
Dave

Does your laptop actually have a bluetooth module? I recently got an Apsire 5634 which has the bluetooth switch (on the front of the unit) and software, but no actual bluetooth hardware.
But that's easily resolved with a USB bluetooth adaptor, just not quite as convenient as having it integrated though. -

is there a way to know for sure if you have the integrated BT without gutting the laptop? i remember the BT light use to come on before i formatted the MCE on my 5630-6895.
also after fresh install of xp pro i have a unkown device in device manager" SM Bus Controller" any idea what that is?
thanks -

Try right clicking on My Computer and under the 'hardware' tab, look under 'device manager', or alternatively, open the Acer ePower Management software, where it says "wireless LAN", "Card bus" etc, it should say "Bluetooth" if it has it...

Yes I do have the hardware, my treo can comunicate with my lg245 phone so I know they work and my mouse and keyboard work If i use the USB BT but still wont recognize my treo. Even if I use the USB BT.
BTW Sorry for the miss spelling on the Post (Anouther).
Cheers,

Make sure you set devices to discoverable. Then allow your laptop to accept 'non-secure' connections for the keyboard I think (unless your keyboard supports secured connections) Not sure about the Palmtop, i think its the discoverable problem as well?

Yes they are discoverable, when I bought this Acer it said it comes with BT and it shows it in my hardware. I called Acer and they were no help, the guy put me on hold and kept asking his supervisor for answers and then tried to pawn me off to PalmONE service saying it was my Palm. (I hate when people try to pass the buck) I think I am just going to take it back to Future Shop. If I get any answers I'll be sure to post.
Thanks anyways.
