I am considering a MediaBay HD.
for My TM8106 it should be avialable and more interesting it should be hot-swappable (if SATA is fully enabled).

    Your experience re
    swappability?
possibility to install WinXP on it?
    speed?
and is is lockable by software?

It would be great for a dedicated SQL-server installation which I sometimes (but not always need).

    Thanks

    Drio

I use one designed for a Thinkpad (from my old T20). It fits in nicely, works well, but doesn't look right in my Ferrari 4005.
The original 100 gig HD that was in my Ferrari is in this tray, no complaints in 5 or so months of use.
Never used it for my OS installation, and haven't tried any of the other things you're asking about...

    Thanks
Looks like a good investment to get one. And thanks for mentioning that a non-Acer Mediabay cartridge also fits in (apart from the esthetics).
Is it operating at the same transfer speed (Ultra DMA 6), or even SATA?) as the drive in your F4005?

    Cheers

    Drio

    It definately isn't SATA
I don't recall checking to see what it's running at
it's something I used when I had my thinkpad, and I've kept on using it in the ferrari, and haven't noticed any performance issues
