i bought a ACER AS6530G-804G64MN and it supports 1080p (full hd 1080p playback) but my desktop resolution can be maximum at 1366x768..
is it ok or is it a driver problem should i force it to 1920*1080 ?
    thank you ..

It depends on what the resolution of the screen is. If the resolution of your screen is 1366x768, then that is going to be the maximum resolution you can set unless you output your display onto an external monitor. If your screen resolution is 1920x1080, then you should be able to set your resolution in the control panel. If not, then you need to update your video drivers.

Yes. You can play the videos but the quality won't be 1080 anyway. Though... not like it matters on that small of a screen anyway.

based on the specs you just posted, you should be able to set the desktop resolution to 1920x1080...

And if you played the 1080 video files, they would only display at the resolution you have set.

Can you open device manager and tell us if you have any improperly installed devices? They will show up with yellow questions marks or exclamation points, or red x's

To get to device manager, right click my computer, hit properties, then hit device manager on the left hand side. This is in the english version, not sure about your language.

I'm having the same question and here's what I found after doing some search. The maximum resolution of my card is 1366x768 like you, but the maximum resulution of the screen is 1600x 1200. I tryed to force it, but it didn't work. Mine too is supposed to be 1080. But what I read is that it is 1080 playback. From what I know of english and my deduction, I guess it means that you must use another monitor(like a tv) to be able to put it to the maximum resolution. I do not have one, so I can only guess

here is what they say about CineCrystalT visual glory in aspire 6530 series at acer's official site , i couldnt able to give the link cause i dont have 15 posts . :)
    so..

The wide-aspect, 16" Acer CineCrystal™ Full HD display provides a true cinematic view with a 16:9 aspect ratio for HDTV and the latest Blu-ray Disc™ format.
The 1920 x 1080 resolution captivates with its precision, and ensures flawless, pixel-for-pixel reproductions of entertainment created in the 1080p format.
16" displays with WCG (Wide Color Gamut) present 33 percent more color-range intensity than today's typical notebook panels, making all the details, flesh tones and imagery more attractive than ever.
An 8 ms high-def response time diminishes ghosting in games with finely rendered, complex graphics. The best blockbuster action movies play seamlessly -- even high-intensity motion is completely intact.
HDMI™ connectivity readies you for pure digital high-def content!
Acer GridVista™ simultaneously shows up to eight windows on dual displays and automatically resizes open application windows to fit the screen for fantastic multitasking.

Should I worry or not?

How did you "update" your drivers. Not just by right clicking on the device and hitting update I hope?
You actually need to download the latest drivers from your manufacturer's website.

This sounds awfully similar to a problem with the prior version of the 18.4" Acers... (the 8920-xxxx series).

I, too, don't have 15 posts and so can't post the link to the thread on this website, though hopefully what follows will be "close enough" to let you find that thread...

    h**p://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=242182&highlight=resolution

Hope you can resolve your problem - seems some folks who bought the Acer 18.4" 8920-xxxx series were stuck with computers that are unable to display the full hd 1920 x 1080p resolution that was advertised for them...

My gpu temp never reached 78, but I don't remember the real max it reached. For the guide, I don't have much time this week, but here's a start.
    1. Download driver 169.04 from laptopvideo2go.com with the modded inf file and install it. There are some guide that explains how.
    2. Download the lattest rivatuner from guru3d.com and install it.

At this point, I think there's already a guide on how to overclock somewhere.

    3. In rivatuner, click the arrow under driver setting and click the first icon.
    4. Overclock by 25 Mhz step the core clock. Test each time with a program like 3dmark or atitool to see if there is some artifact. If so go back a step and you are ok.
    5. Go back to stock setting for the core clock and do the some for memory.
    6. Put the core clck and memory clock the max you reached each with no artifact and scan again. You will probably get some, so lower the core or memory a bit till you don,t have any artifact anymore.
