Hi guys, I bought this module 15 days before. It runs the newest games very well. the problem is that when I play some small games or use some small software, the screen move very slowly sometimes (not at beginning, always 10 or 15 mins later and the program takes 50% of CPU in task management) I've already upgraded my video driver to 6.11 but it is useless. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

My video card is X1600 (128MB dedicated and 384 MB Hypomemory)

First off welcome to the nbr.com forums! ^_^

Thanks for taking the time to stop by with your question on running certain applications on the 5672wlmi. If you could, please be a bit more specific as far as the problem you are having as well as what programs are causing problems for you. :)

Are you running old roms or NES games via an emulator? A bit more information is needed to help solve your problem ;)

If you were asking me what the exact problem was, I would say that it might be related to a dual core system and running a single core application. More info is needed if you could.

    Thanks

The program is a small chinese game called Junqi(like chess game)which support gaming network. when you play the game more than 15mins the screen will become very slowly even the chess move as slow-motion :( . If it is a problem about a dual core system running a single core application how can I solve this problem?

i recommend installing some type of temp monitor like NHC. my 5672 became very slow from overheating and eventually blew up.

now i watch the temp like a hawk in my task bar.

thanks PRH, it was the problem of overheating....lol~seems the acer notebooks all has the overheating problem...I had a aspire 5024 last year (already sold this year). it has good video card but overheating always trouble me when I plays 3D games like NFS 9 or War craft 3..that is why I sold it and bought a new laptop (aspire 5672). to my suprise, I have to face the same problem again...

    You're welcome.

I don't think there is such a thing as a dual-core app versus single core in the mainstream of software we are using?

If you want a quick and dirty workaround to the heat issue, just pop off the bottom panels (just a few screws), and stick the laptop on a cooler pad -- preferrably one that blows upward. It may not be pretty, but smoke coming out the side of the laptop with a hissing sound followed by a pop isn't any better (ask me how I know about that...)

proper cooling on any laptop takes common sense. I have yet to have problems with any acer laptop and heat, sure I wrote a guide to cool it further but it is was well within the limits of where it should be.

    1. don't leave it on carpeting

    2. allow proper venting and cooling (1 inch min)

    3. turn off unneeded crap (bluetooth / firewire / wireless / etc.)

    4. downclock and use a stepping program for when on battery and for when using 3d applications. you don't need to run a pc on full blaze to type a paper, and the GPU does not need to run @ 430/300 for it either. Just use common sense with that ;)
