Has anyone installed XP on their Acer 1410 and got the hotkey software to work properly? I can get everything to work (sound/bluetooth/video out) except lcd brightness. FN + left or right arrow key does not do anything. Does anyone else have this issue?

    I got same issue.
I contacted Acer America, but they did not provide a solution.
I asked if Acer already aware of the xp brightness issue and they did not response to my question. Instead, they said I can use their fee-based servcie for fixing the problem.
    What a company!

BIOS version 3120 or newer should cure this problem(check Timeline Tweaks).

Bios 3120 would fix brightness control, but I experienced another problem that the xp will not shut down and frozen up in the end.
    Have you have the experience?
    thanks

I haven't tried XP so far. There is an even newer BIOS version out. Worth a try maybe.

Hey every one here something cool,
I have a an Acer Aspire 1410 it came with Vista home.
I got tired of the nags and blew it off and put Xp pro on it.
everthing worked fine, except the fn > britghness control was forever gone. so I thought?
I checked my Bios first, it was v0. 3108, so i updated it to 3303.
then rebboted, did not boot, so I had wondered if it reverted back to AHCI mode
and it did, i chose IDE mode and saved , rebooted.

all is great, even the brightness works perfectly!!! :)

Hope this helps some of you out there.

    I had Win7.

I have downgraded it to Win XP SP3.

Upgradeing BIOS to 3303 helped me with Fn brightness option.

    Thanks ;)
