I purchased it a year ago and all things worked. @ weeks later after warrienity passede the lap top crashed So I did a restore..at time of buy it said maker restore disc so i did....yet when I put them in to restore, the computer ate up my windows applications and it just froze.
After 2 weeks I broke down a got a Windows XP CD to have the lap-top run...And at the same time (I paid Acrer) to have them ship out restore discs...Then when they came,Acer restore Discs, it ate up my Windows XP applications, again.
After several attempts I have my 1642 running..But no DVD-CD Rewrite, and am looking for the DEcoder for the DVD.
Acer use to be real good...Even my WI/FI goes off when a call comes in and I do have the Wireless Lap Top...
Why can't Acer admit they don't back up their products like they use to, as in 1997? Plus they tried to charge me $50 more on my credit card, when nothing was done....
I'm still looking for the driver for my DVD-rewrite and repairing my wireless....
anyone have problems like mine that can be fixed? One thing for sure..Acer is forcing me to become a computer teach, because they sure don't help me...Plus I had a hugh problem and called Acer..The tech there told me with my problem, I had to replace my hard drive..After that call..I worked on my lap top and repaired it without a new hard drive.....   :(
