I've been hearing good things and bad things about the Acer 5100. One negative thing that I've heard though, is the dropping of the wireless internet. Now, I'm not very good with computers, so I was wondering if someone could help me out. I heard there may be drivers I could download to help fix this. I don't know which one(s) I would need, so if you guys could look at these for me, that would be great. I truly don't want to be disappointed because this is my first notebook I'm going to buy, and it seriously would be great if someone could help. This comes with Windows Vista.

I can give you both the laptop with specs and the drivers that Acer offers.

    Thanks for all your help!

I use Atheros AR500 wireless drivers and never had one disconnect. As the chipset is Atheros.

Couldnt tell you much about Acer's wireless drivers.

It is actually quite simple if you have a atheros card get the atheros driver from the same acer euro site you have in your first post, if you have a broadcom then get the broadcom driver etc... All you would need to know is what component acer actually uses in your notebook. The main fact that different drivers are available means that they can use whatever components they have i.e. there is no guarantee what component you will get.

All of the drivers on the acer site you linked are fairly self explanatory find out what component you have in your notebook and then look at the driver name to get the right driver. But as I told you when you get a notebook new from the factory the drivers are 99% of the time up-to-date and you won't need to download anything.
