    acer 5315 2gb ram only reading 1gb ..HELP..

    Hi I am new to the whole upgrade yourself thing so please speak in a language for dummies.
    I just purchased 2 1gb memory sticks for my kids acer aspire 5315 opened up the back put in the two sticks and started the laptop which started and is running fine but whn I look at the system control panel it is only saying that i have 1 gb ram...
    please help

    Hi and welcome to the forums.

    If your system is only reading 1GB of ram, double check to see if your ram modules are seated properly. You may need to take them out and installed it again. If that fails, they check to see if one of the ram modules are defective by installing and testing them one at a time. You can also use memtest86+ to check for faulty ram.

    Thought it would be something a little more technical. Pulled em out pushed em back in and hey presto 2gb. Thanx
