acer 5735 wont run games

hi there, I just bought an acer 5735z and with the intel 4500mhd and it wont even start any games at all, it always goes to a black screen.

I've updated the graphics drivers and still the same black screen, I've tried call of duty 4 and 3dmark 05 and they both do exactly the same thing it just won't run them

any ideas on why this would be happening?

t3400 2.2ghz
3gb ram
250gb HDD
4500mhd graphics

 

what games are you trying to run?

 

it may be doing that because it cant run the game

 

I tried the fear 1 demo and it ran it barely playable 20-25 fps average until it hits freaky shadows and lighting, then it slows down but at least it actually runs it, so I don't think it's the card or drivers could it be vista basic?

I'm really thinking about trying to find xp drivers as I downgraded my other comp and it runs every game even though it can't run them well, I might be wrong but I think its vista.

so far; COD4 demo(black screen), 3dmark05(black screen) and the fear demo which starts and runs.

 

Something is not right. I have a x3100 which is weaker than x4500 and I run fear 1 at medium with 40-50 FPS, COD4 at very low(unplayable for me but no black screens) 3DMark06 runs fine too.

Where did you get the driver from? Acer? Or Intel? These are the latest for Vista 32bit.

 

see I was thinking it would be equal to my other crappy card the go 7200 which can also play cod4 at the very lowest settings.

the problem I seem to have is that I click on the exe and it won't even try to play it, it just goes to a black screen and I have to do a hard shut down because I can't exit.

I'll try those drivers and get back to you.

 

wow thats made fear much more playable, I had it at maximum cpu and low gpu settings and it ran very smooth and looked playable as well. I'll need to try cod4

EDIT: Call of duty 4 still doesn't work but I forgot to mention it is the demo, but those drivers have definately increased the performance as I tried the fear 2 demo on lowest settings and it was completely playable, I don't know if its a big step up but Those drivers are great, thank you.

 

i bought quake wars (whole game) and for some reason when i run the game it brings up a dialogue box which says there is a file missing and the laptop won't play the game. I also have an acer 5735 but the game says it only runs some nvidia and ati chipsets, any advice?

 

Did you update DirectX?

 

ummm... i think i did because i clicked on something which reinstalled directx but it still wont play.
