    Hi folks,

First post here after finding this acer forum so hello!

    Last week i purchase a new acer 5740g with the ati hd 5470, 4gig ram , win7 64bit.

Everything seemed fine until 3d software was used, ie, demos, games etc.

I first tried a couple of basic tech demos, and worked fine for first 10-20 seconds or so, then lots of graphical corruption happens, lots of flickering, square splodgy stuff all over the screen. When you quit out back to windows, the corruption still affects windows, but not quite as bad. Run a 3d app again, and it goes really bad once more. Quit to windows, not as bad, but still flickering and dots and stuff about the screen.

Then i tried a couple of games, and while they worked a little longer to start with, within 5-10 minutes, the same thing happened again, really bad graphical corruption, then you quit to windows, and its still there, just not as bad.

A reboot is all that fixes it.

I have now returned the item and will hopefully get it replaced or refunded, but i wanted to know if there was any known cause of this ? is it the graphics chip or memory related ? is this laptop known to have any problems ? or has anyone else experienced this ?

    Thanks in advance. :)
