been searching through acer forum and found nothing.
Anyone actually open up the laptop and found out if 9500m gs is upgradable?
Also is 6920 with 9500m gs, regluar 16inch(13xx res), with blueray drive for $899.99 good deal?(refurbished)
I like the design and i know cpu is upgradable.
I want to know if GPU is upgradable.
trying to get notebook that is GPU upgradable in the future

if i get 6920, plan to upgrade it to x9000(if it supports it) and 8800 gtx or higher if it accepts(inthe future like year or two)

Similar question was asked here but there doesn't seem to be an answer.

Even if it's MXM, the likelihood of popping in an 8800m GTX would be low because of the cooling requirements. Also, if Acer was like Asus, they may put the video card BIOS on the motherboard instead of the video card, making it even more difficult to upgrade.

90% of the time, you can assume that a notebook gpu is not upgradeable so I doubt this one is.

nope.... at best the system might be using MXM-II... which only has a 25w TDP.... so the 8600M GT is the best for that power constraint.

Nope, the 9500M GS is better. Because of the low consumption. And, if he wants a boost, he can try gettin' a 9650M GS. It will fit well, because there are models of the 8920 that has it (and it uses almost the same hardware inside).

Is it possible to get 6920 with 9650m? I see only 9500ms(checked BB,circuitcity, tigerdirect, ecost, etc)
    also can 6920 take x9000?

There is no 6920G model with 9650M. Define possible. Almost anything is possible, but you might need lots of modifications, which is impractical for majority of the people out there. X9000 fits into the 6920G but its very expensive and not worth it imho.

Yeah - the X9000 won't have the unlocked multiplier needed in order to overclock.
Stick with the T9300 or T9500 - that should be plenty of processing power.
