Hi Kevin, and welcome to the forums.
It depends on which model 6920 you have.
If you have the 6920 with the Intel GMA X3100, then no. You're stuck with the integrated graphics processor.
If you have the 6920 G with the GeForce 9500M GS, then you can upgrade in theory since it has a MXM-II slot. Unfortunately, people have had issues in trying to upgrade to the next best model, the 9600M GT. So in practice, no upgrades are possible at the moment.

Its tough upgrading the Acer 6920G - I've also heard stories of graphics upgrade failure in that model.

With time, work, and too much money, yeah.
And Best Buy won't be able to help you - most manufacturers aren't advertising their systems' MXM capabilities, nor will they supply the upgrade cards.
Your only hope is the secondary market (eBay), and even then, 9600M GTs are hard to come by.

The best you can do is sell your Acer and buy something like an Asus G50Vt w/ 9800M GS (15.4").

Kevin, why are you dissatisfied with what you have?
The GeForce 9500M GS is a perfectly capable gamer, able to handle most modern games, albeit at reduced resolution and/or detail.

What I'm trying to say is, stop before you do anything stupid. Please try gaming on your current card, see how it handles, and come back to us later.
The 9500M GS has handled everything I've thrown at it and then some.
