    acer 6920G help gpu replacement

    Hi to all i 've got my hands on a acer 6920G with nVidia Go 9500M but the gpu is toast :) i 've got an old vga card from an acer 5920g nvidia geforce 8600m gs 256mb ddr2 mxm ii will it be compatible if i put it to acer 6920G
    or not any help will be very helpfull tahnk you in advance.
    P.S. I don't mind that the 8600m gs is only 256mb

    You'll have to try it out on your own - access to the card is easy enough.
    When I had to replace a fried GPU in 6920G if was an ordeal - I ended up buying a card that was supposed to work in it but didn't, flashing a modified BIOS that was supposed to help but didn't and ultimately buying another 9500M GS identical to the stock one that worked fine.

    The problem might be with the card's BIOS and you may not be able to find BIOS for that particular card that will work, so while the card would be fine, it wouldn't work anyway.

    Check the 8600 you have - that's really the only way to know for sure and if it doesn't work I would recommend you buy another 9500M GS right of the bat.

    ok thanks a lot will try and see i found that in ebay they say that it is compatible the chipset from the 8600 is vg.8ps06.001 and they sell the same the only difference is that mine is 256mb and the one they sell is 512mb fingers crossed.
