Hello, guys.i've been using my acer 8204 for a few weeks, and im really happy with it.however,i feel,im having a REALLY slow startup due to an awfull lot of programs loading into the system tray..my question may seem really stupid,but...how do i improve my startup and overall system performance.how can i revome these programs at least from the start up? also, any other tips on improving performance?
I was thinking of doing a clean install...how can i do this,if i do NOT have a copy of win xp? is the recovery disk i did in the beginning any good for this?
thanks a lot, really looking forward to your help

run msconfig and "untick" all unnecessary programs - there should be like about 10-15 of them maximum - I mean this is my personal maximum. On the other hand you can use Hybernate mode instead of turning off Windows, so your RAM will be stored on HDD and therefore another Windows comeback after switching on the computer takes just 2 secs...

The recovery CD you got with the laptop cannot be used to do a "clean" XP Pro reinstall without all the bloatware acer installs. If you find a XP Pro disk anywhere then you can use the steps To try do it
