    HI all

my laptop resolution for 8371 has recently decided to become 1280x800 instead of 1366x768. I now have a black bar to the right of my screen cannot see the bottom task bar. Even if I change resolution to lower setting, say 800x600, I still cannot see bottom taskbar. This happens in win7 and ubuntu.

and also when in bios, I still have black bar to the right of the screen. I'm trying to I've left the battery out to see if that would reset anything but no joy so far.

Anybody else have had this problem acer or otherwise?.

    graphics is Intel x4500hd .

    thanks for any input

well for windows you could download latest drivers and check if that will fix the trouble...

Did you try connecting your laptop on external display and check if the black bars are available there too?

The drivers are latest (later than official Acer drivers) from windows update.

But it's not really a driver problem, the bios screen is not native or stretched to 1366x768 like I used to have. I can now only see "F2 for setup" and then the top half of "F12 for boot option...."

The image doesn't compress or stretch to widescreen even when I tried with Windows Install.

It seems to read the resolution of VGA monitor 1280x1024 fine and I have native resolution there.

It's a pain, I dont' have my restore discs (which I don't think would help much anyway) to restore to factory settings to acer. It's only 2 months

    Hi,

I am having the exact same problem with mu daughters Acer 8371.
Works fine on an external monitor, and the drivers are updated.

However, here the problem started at the point where she dropped it on the floor!!

So it might be the case that something similar has happened to yours?
