I almost bought the aspire 1802WSMI, but after reading all the trouble people had with it, I bought a more cheaper travelmate 4001Wlmi.
I've been using this machine for one week now, and everyday I'm experiencing other problems:
- the touchpad scroll knob works when it wants to
- network erros
- peak on USB hub port (after going in standby)
- battery taskbar icon dissapears or shows after 2 hours of battery use still 100%...
- bluetooth, where the hell is it?
I'm so frustrated. []I even don't know what chipset I precisely have. Test programs from intel to pcmark or acer, they all give other chipsets...852/855/GME/GM/PM ??
I wish someone has the real specs of this machine, so I can reinstall the mess acer puts on their machines.

Have you ever reinstalled your machine or is it still the setup from acer you are running?
Does anyone know how you can remove the acer picture you get monitored, just before the blue win XP logon screen? Would I dissapear if I install a retail win xp?
I really don't like computer builders' setups, they install all kinds of crap which we don't need! [}] When my machine has just start up, 40 processes are loaded. This is sick [

I can confirm the Mainboard chipset : 852 GM/PM
Now 2 programs gave this result.
Lordyeray, do you have all drivers to reinstall your machine? I only got recovery discs, but no specific single drivers...Also on the Acer support pages, I can't find a thing... -
The Intel 852 Chipsets are for Mobile Pentium 4 CPU's. The ones used in Pentium M based notebooks are the 855 series. If the 4001WLMi is using an 852 chipset, it can't be called a Centrino system. In order to be able to have the Centrino name attached to any system, it must have 3 componenets. An Intel Pentium M CPU, Intel 855 Chipset & Intel Pro Wireless card.
