Hi everyone. I have an acer aspire 6920 and had to do a factory reset, and upon reinstalling software from the partinioned drive, I got an error about the arcade instant on, and now whenever arcade deluxe starts, I get an error message that a problem caused the program to stop working and needs to be closed. Any ideas on what the problem is.

Also, my dvd burner won't burn anymore since the format. I've done a little research but the suggestions given haven't solved the problem. Acer tells me that because my warranty is expired, they will not help unless I pay, and of course I want to make that my last resort.

Any ideas and thanks in advance.

Hi MasonRock, welcome to the forums!
I'll get a mod to move this over to the Acer subforum, where other 6920 users can give you a hand.

First off, do you really need Acer Arcade Instant-On? I found it incredibly annoying (and the Windows XP Embedded it uses kept wiping out Vista's system restore points!), so I did a clean install of Vista using a retail disc. This can be gotten from a number of *ahem* less-than-legal sources, if you get my drift, but should still be legitimate if you use the license key on the bottom of your laptop.
This way, you can clear off the Arcade Instant-On garbage, re-install only the Acer drivers and utilities you need (like Arcade Deluxe), and have a working DVD drive again.
Just a heads-up, though - this may prevent you from using your Disk-to-Disk Recovery option. Do you have an external burner you could use to make a new set of recovery DVDs, and the Drivers & Applications DVD that Acer eRecovery makes? The former will help if you don't like the clean Vista install, and the latter contains all the drivers that your system came with, to be installed at your convenience.
And also, back up your system beforehand just in case anything goes wrong.
