    Hi

I am new to this forum just wondering if its safe to upgrade the bios on this model. I have read a lot of horrer storys about people having failed upgrades
i have bios 1.27 and want to install the latest but am a bit worried about bricking the thing, my fan never seems to be off anymore and the indle temp is between 46 & 51 degrees is this normal for this model. Can i use a memory stick to flash the bios from dos ? cos a dont want to use windows killed my old hp laptop flashing in windows. Anyone have a safe cant fail method of upgrading this bios. :) :) :)

Well, flashing the BIOS is risky and as far as I know you're safer flashing it under DOS. Of course under DOS it might not work either, there is no 100% safe method.

BigO has flashed his 5315 several times without problem. I think one time he interrupted the flash himself and bricked his laptop and this forced him to find a method to recover it, hence his BIOS recovery with thumb drive guide.
